Ministry of Clouds, Tasmania Chardonnay 2021

Flag of Australia

Ditching a corporate life in 2012 to follow what they love, partners Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood have been producing some of the most exciting organic wine in Australia since starting-up Ministry of Clouds. Asked if it was a risk worth taking, the pair sum it up quite nicely: "Our hands get dirty, our backs sore and our hearts full." 100% Chardonnay from the cool climate island region of Tasmania, this wine shows the intensity of the low yielding 45 year old East Coast site, and the fragile acid line synonymous with fine Tasmanian Chardonnay. Aged in old oak barrels for 11 months to retain freshness, it has a nose of white flowers, peach and wood spice which moves to a palate with a bedrock of chalky minerality supporting a core of intense stone fruit, framing its bright acidity. A great pair with all kinds of seafood.
